Comfortable Snap-On Implant Retained Dentures
Snap-on dentures (also called overdentures) are a type of prosthesis made of acrylic material and usually placed on two to four implants. These implant supported dentures provide more comfort than conventional dentures.
To Whom Can It Be Applied?
- Patients who have completely lost their teeth
- For patients looking for an acrylic prosthesis that is more comfortable than traditional prostheses.
- For people whose teeth are damaged due to gum disease.
Treatment time abroad
- Number of visits: 2 visits are required
Treatment process
- Making a mold will take an average of about 1 hour.
- Placement of your implants will take an average of 2 hours.
- You need to wait an average of 2 months for your gums to heal.
- You may need additional time if bone grafting is required.
- Your personalized prostheses will be prepared in 4-6 days. After the prostheses are ready, they will be placed in about 1-2 hours.
- In the short term, about a week will be required for the implant site and gums to heal.

Pluggable Prosthesis Treatment Processes
What is a plug-in implant prosthesis?
Unlike traditional prostheses, which have slipping and dislocation, plug-in implant-based prostheses are more stable, more durable and useful.
Dental implants or screws placed in your jawbone keep the plug-in implant prosthesis in place. Typically, two to four implants are used in each jaw, and you can place up to 10 implants depending on your need and budget. After the implants are in your jaw, an over-implant or implant-supported prosthesis (sometimes called an overdenture) is put in place.
Pluggable prosthesis treatment processes
- Initial consultation, x-ray or computed tomography scan. Your doctor will examine and evaluate the general condition of your mouth and jaw. If you decide that All-on-4 is the right option for you, your dentist will take an impression of your mouth. These, in turn, are sent to the laboratory for the creation of special prostheses (jaw and tooth sections or bridges to be attached to implants).
- Anesthesia and threading (if necessary). When you undergo surgery to place your implants, your dentist will anesthetize you so that this process is painless. If there is a tooth that needs to be extracted, this can be applied at the same time. Your mouth is then thoroughly cleaned to remove bacteria and damaged tissue.
- Mold preparation. After the teeth are prepared, your doctor will produce a mold to create custom veneers for your teeth. The mold will then be forwarded to the laboratory. The lab will use this mold to produce exact replicas of the damaged teeth.
- Placement of prostheses. The prosthesis is placed on the jawbone and the gums are sutured on the implant.
Benefits:
- Snap-on implant dentures are harder, stronger and more comfortable than traditional dentures made for daily removal.
- Compared to removable prostheses, the cases of dislocation while speaking are very rare.
- Unlike traditional prostheses, which have slipping and dislocation, plug-in implant-based prostheses are more stable and more useful.
- Many people find that snap-on implant dentures look more natural than traditional dentures.
- The jawbone is preserved and further bone loss is prevented with snap-in prostheses.
Disadvantages:
- It is less durable and has to be replaced every 5-8 years.
- A full palate base is required for top-set dentures, which can directly affect the taste and experience of the meal.
- They are generally bulkier than full chin dental implants and All-on-4 implants and therefore can sometimes feel more uncomfortable.
After Treatment
Snap-on Prostheses After Treatment
- Swelling is controlled by applying an ice pack to the surgical area.
- This application should be applied continuously for at least the first 36 hours.
- Bleeding after a dental implant procedure is quite common.
- If the bleeding is excessive, you can apply a sterile gauze pad between your teeth for about 30 minutes.
- If the bleeding does not stop, you will need to consult your doctor.
- Post-procedure pain relievers and antibiotics should be taken according to your doctor’s aftercare recommendations.
- All physical activities, including strenuous exercise, should be avoided as it may increase bleeding.
- Using dentures before they are fully healed can create a situation where new implants are put under pressure.
Modern prostheses are created from technologically advanced materials. The base is acrylic, produced in the same color as your gums.
Once you are fully accustomed to wearing dentures, you should be able to consume almost anything. However, it can happen with certain foods that will always be difficult to eat, such as foods that are hard, sticky, or contain small hard particles.
- Plug-in dentures made of acrylic resin must be replaced every five to eight years. As you age, your dentures may need to be re-measured and aligned to the changing shape of your mouth. Renewal of dentures ensures that the base of the denture is rebuilt and the existing dentures remain intact.
Possible risks and side effects
- Infection may occur.
