Some people use glasses to see both, near and far distance. Some people can see both the distant and the near with a single glass. Multifocal lenses are intraocular lenses that allow patients to see both, far and near. Multifocal lenses have different and varied rings. One part of these are allowing to see in the near, another part allows to see in the far. This provides a clear vision.
In order to use multifocal lenses, sensitive measurements should be made to the patient before the cataract surgery. In this way, the number of the artificial lens will be determined. This lens will be placed in the eye of the patient and myopia and hyperopia are being treated. As it is known, the standard intraocular lenses are monofocused and allow to see the far. Multifocal lenses are 2-focused and provide both, near and far vision.
