Intraocular Lens

Intraocular lenses are one of the most frequently used treatment methods. The degree of these diseases is very high in some cases in people with major refractive errors. Some of these patients are not suitable for laser treatment. Many different techniques have been developed for such situations. One of these techniques is the use of intraocular lenses. One of the major advantages of intraocular lenses is that the treatment is recyclable. That is, lenses can be removed in case of any risk or dissatisfaction.

THIS METHOD IS SUITABLE FOR;

People who aren’t suitable laser surgery

Myopia higher than 7 degrees

Hypermetropes higher than 3 degrees

It can be applied in astigmatism higher than 3 degrees.

HOW IS THE TREATMENT PROCESS?

After the detailed examination of the specialist doctor and the necessary examinations, patients can benefit from the operation. In operation, an incision smaller than 3 mm is made and entered through this incision. The membrane of the lens is removed in a round shape. The lens in the eye is then liquefied and absorbed by a device emitting ultrasound waves. After this step, the lens is replaced with a new foldable lens. Immediately after insertion of the lens through the incision, it takes its normal shape with body temperature and adapts to the eye.

In this treatment method, the lens in the eye is taken and replaced with another lens. One part of this lens allows to see the near distance, another part allows to see the far distance. Vision reaches the normal level within 1-2 days after surgery. Of course, this may vary from person to person.

WHAT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED AFTER THE OPERATION?

The patient should wear protective glasses on the day of the operation. The patient does not need to stay in the hospital after surgery. If no edema occurs in the cornea, vision returns to normal the next day. After surgery, the doctor will give the patient eye drops with antibiotics and cortisone. You must use these drops in accordance with the plan given by your doctor. Routine controls are performed postoperatively. These controls are postoperative 1st Day, 1st Week, 1st Month and 3rd Month. However, the physician may change the frequency and duration.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES?
  • This surgical method has been practiced for approximately 15 years.
  • Its use in the world is increasing day by day and its success rate is high.
  • FDA approved single lens and membrane system.
  • Developed with minimal damage to eye structures.
  • Perfectly matches to eye and body.
  • Very thin and delicate, so it fits easily into the eyes.
  • It is a reversible method. The effect is not permanent, can be removed in case of any risk.
  • There is no dryness in the eye because the method does not touch the cornea.
  • Postoperative recovery of vision occurs in 1 day.
  • Local anesthesia is applied during surgery.
  • Does not reflect in the eye. So it’s not noticeable.
  • It can treat any eye defects.
  • It does not require intervention to eye tissues and does not deteriorate the natural structure.
  • Cornea cells are protected.
CAN ANY PROBLEM OCCUR AFTER THIS SURGERY?

The following problems may occur after the intraocular lens surgery:

Retention of the eye number: In such problems, the number in the eye can be reset by excimer laser method.

Corneal edema: Corneal edema may occur. This is a problem that can be passed with drops given by the doctor.

Glaucoma: It is a problem that can be seen in all intraocular surgeries. This problem causes eye pain. But this problem also goes away with drops given by the doctor. Very rarely, a second intervention may be necessary.

Cataract: If there is any contact with the natural lens during surgery, cataract development may begin. In rare cases, a cataract surgery may be necessary.

Infection in the eye: Serious infections can be seen rarely. Early intervention is a condition.

Bleeding: Bleeding may occur in the iris tissue. It is a situation that can be easily controlled.
