Full Jaw Implant Supported Fixed Prosthesis Process

What is a full chin implant supported fixed prosthesis, how is it?

Fixed full chin implant supported bridges are applied to six to eight implant-supported prostheses to preserve and define the most natural and most beautiful appearance of the teeth. The prosthesis is not in the form of a plug and is produced from porcelain or zirconium material.

Patient Benefits of Full Jaw Implant Supported Fixed Prostheses

General benefits of full chin implant bridges:

  • Having a safe, solid and stable solution.
  • Full Jaw Implant Supported Fixed Prostheses are mostly a life-long, long-lasting solution.
  • Especially in the lower jaw, your dental prosthesis will not slip from where it is and will increase your quality of life much more than before.
  • Full jaw dental implant bridges are the only fixed option when no teeth are available for anchorage.
  • The full chin fixed implant bridge is the most similar to real teeth and feels like real teeth as time goes on. It provides you comfort and natural appearance instead of a full set of real teeth.

A few steps are required to provide a brand new smile with full chin implant supported fixed prostheses. Here are those steps:

  1. Initial consultation, x-ray or computed tomography scan. Your doctor will describe the current condition of your mouth and jaw and perform an X-ray or CT scan. If you decide that full-arch implant supported fixed dentures are suitable for you, your doctor will take the current impression of your mouth. These will then be forwarded to the laboratory for the creation of personalized prostheses – jaw and tooth sections or bridges to be placed on implants.
  2. Anesthesia and threading (if necessary). When the surgery starts to position your implants, your doctor will give you anesthesia so that the surgery process is painless. Your mouth is then thoroughly cleaned to remove bacteria and damaged tissue.
  3. Placement of implants. Two spaces are opened in front of and behind your chin. Your implants are placed at 30 to 45 degree angles and all gaps are sutured with dissolvable threads. These threads will come off on their own in a few weeks. On that day or the next, your new teeth will be placed on the implants. Once set, all the joins will be hidden behind the lip and almost invisible.
  4. Fixation of permanent dentures. Your doctor may choose to apply a temporary prosthesis to you. This is to reduce bruising on your chin and put less pressure on your dentures as they heal. After your mouth is well, your doctor will put your permanent dentures on you.
Post-Treatment Condition

The swelling can be reduced considerably by applying ice packs to the operated area. This process should be applied continuously for at least the first 36 hours.

Bleeding after surgery is quite common. If this bleeding is too much, you can apply a sterile gauze pad to your teeth and between them for about 30 minutes. If your bleeding does not stop, you should consult your dentist.

After the procedure, pain relievers and antibiotics should be taken according to your dentist’s aftercare guidelines.

All physical sports activities, including strenuous and strenuous exercise, should be avoided, as they may increase bleeding.

Before the implants are positioned, the patient should not come into contact with the prosthesis placed in his mouth for at least 10 days after the surgery. The application of prostheses may cause pressure to be applied to the new implants before they are properly repaired.

Consume liquids and pureed foods for the first few days after surgery.

Switch to solid foods for the next few weeks. Any meal should not be missed.

Avoid very hot foods, as it will take several days for the feeling in your tongue to return.

It is very important to maintain oral hygiene without interruption after the surgical procedure. Tooth brushing and rinsing should be done at least twice a day.

If all your teeth are missing due to bone loss, periodontal problem or problems related to oral diseases such as dental caries, full dentures are the right application for you.

You may feel some discomfort after the procedure, but it should be minimal. If you have serious pain or discomfort, you should see your doctor and go back as soon as possible, but this is highly unlikely.

  • You need some practice to eat with new dentures, and it may even feel a little uncomfortable at first. In order to minimize such discomfort, only soft foods should be eaten in the first place. Chewing gum and using toothpicks should be avoided. Hard and sticky foods and foods also pose a problem for dentures.
Possible risks and side effects
  • The success rate can go up to 98%.
  • The success rate for a dental implant is 95% in an average of 50 years of use.
  • Failure rates are very low. These situations mostly happen because you are allergic to the metal used in the implant.
