How does this process work?

Dental implants are created from titanium or zirconium. Implants are made of three parts: the implant device that accepts the root of the tooth, the crown or denture in the upper part, and the abutment that connects the implant device to the crown, bridge or denture. After the abutment is screwed to the implant and the tissue is sutured, it is expected to heal and become normal. Usually after 4 months, the implant fuses to the jawbone.

What are dental implant procedures and what does it cover?

The timing of the implant processes and the number of visits required differ from person to person, especially depending on how quickly the implanted tooth and the surrounding surface repair itself and whether the person needs a bone graft. If a bone graft is not needed, the entire procedure (from consultation to placement of the permanent crown) can generally take up to 4 months. When a bone graft is needed, the end of the treatment may be longer.

Some of the conditions that must be done in implants are as follows:

A current X-ray of the person’s mouth is needed to adjust the best treatment plan needed for patients. Gum tissue is opened to notice the bone area where the implant will be placed. Once the jawbone is noticed, your dentist uses a special drill to make room in the bone for the implant. Next, the implant is placed on the jawbone and covered by suturing the gums. Your surgeon places a temporary crown or retainer to fill the created space.

The long-term success of implants requires absolutely correct and regular oral hygiene. Just like natural teeth, it is necessary to keep implants, synthetic teeth and gum tissue regularly clean. In addition, controls should be made to extend regular oral hygiene and the function and durability of the implant over the long term.

After the implant appointment – that is, after the effect of the anesthesia is complete when the implant is positioned in your jawbone, you may experience discomfort, pain or aches. You may also observe some small bruises and swellings on the gum. It is beneficial to consume soft food for the recovery period, the average recovery period is 4 months.

After the next sessions

After your recovery is over, the next sessions will require some tests to take references of your teeth, prepare custom-made crowns for your implants, and make sure that the crowns fit well in your mouth and feel good. What should be done for care after implant treatment?

You can use ice packs on the area where the operation is applied and thus swelling can be reduced. You must continue this practice continuously for at least the first 36 hours.
Bleeding is common after implant placement. If it is too much, you can apply a tampon treatment with a sterile gauze pad between your teeth for about 30 minutes. If the bleeding does not stop, you will need to seek help from your doctor.
Post-operative painkillers and antibiotics should be taken according to your doctor’s recommendations after their examination.
Try to stay away from all physical sports and activities as much as possible, including strenuous exercise, as it will increase bleeding.
Before the implants are placed, the prostheses placed in the patient’s mouth should be avoided for at least 10 days after the surgery. The use of prostheses may cause pressure to be applied around the new implants before they are fully healed.

How should the diet processes be after implant procedures?

In the first few days after the operation, liquids and mashed foods and plenty of beverages are required.
You can then start using solid food within a few weeks. It is very important not to skip any meal.
Avoid very hot food, as it will take a few days for all of the feeling in your tongue to return.
Oral hygiene should be maintained after the procedure. Brushing and rinsing at least twice a day is mandatory.
